Mobile finger printing in NSW

The NSW police are introducing a mobile fingerprinting machine that can scan you fingerprint on location an compare it to the NATIONAL DATABASE held by the federal government.

Anyone committing any infraction, no matter how small, will be subject to the fingerprinting and their record added to the national database.

Police claim that people committing minor offenses will have their fingerprints removed, but the fact that there is a NATIONAL DATABASE in the first place throws questions on that idea.

Civil rights organisations are protesting the use of these mobile fingerprinting machines as an infringement of people’s civil liberties, and that the police can not be trusted to use this technology wisely.
