Clem’s favourite quotes

Just been looking at the quotes part of your page.  Three of my favourites:

“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
the courage to change the things I can;
and the wisdom to know the difference.” (Don’t know who that’s from)

“All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” — Edmund Burke

“When people stop believing in God, they don’t believe in nothing – they believe in anything.”  –  GK Chesterton

The first one I like because, even if you’re not religious, it sort of encapsulates human endeavour.

The second one just because I think it is true: look how much we accept from our governments without doing (or perhaps being able to do?) anything about it (speed cameras being a good example).

The third one I like because I think it is, to an extent, true: whatever atheist / commie / civil servant types say, people need something to believe in and are the better for it.
